Your Social Media Manager Checklist

First and foremost however, the Social Media Manager should implement and maintain optimum engagement with followers while focusing on the creation of an online brand persona. In doing so, they are required to dialogue with customers and professionally manage both positive and negative feedback online.

A Social Media Manager needs to be continuously generating engaging content which not only communicates brand awareness but also keeps in line with, and ideally ahead of, what’s trending online.

In order to effectively measure and track the success of a social media campaign, or even an individual post, a Social Media Manager should be equipped to use online analytical tools to measure traffic and click through rates.

To become a social media manager, roots in communications and copywriting will work to your advantage. As data becomes more accessible, a social media manager is no longer just a manager of conversation but also plays a crucial role in developing and executing strategies alongside Content, Campaign and SEO Specialists.

Whether just starting out or already in the industry of social media marketing, be sure to boost productivity through tools and apps which help automating tasks. Why not familiarise yourself with Hootsuite (a tool to assist in managing multiple accounts -on Facebook or Twitter- and in scheduling posts) or Spring Metrics ( a specialised analytical platform which provides reports of conversations, landing pages, SEO campaigns and more)

Remember – having a personal Facebook page or Twitter handle doesn’t qualify or equip you for managing a corporate’s social media campaign. It’s not as easy as it looks.
